Mother’s Day – 1 week warning!

May 3, 2008

Hey guys, this is your one week warning that Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11th. Here’s a unique way you and the kids can surprise mom with a gift she will treasure. All it takes is a digital camera and some creativity.

Take the kids out somewhere special, like a park, a lake, the mountains – somewhere that will make a nice background. Then, take pictures, lots of pictures, of you and the kids. Take some posed shots (if you can get someone to take the picture of all of you at once that would be great) and a lot of candid shots. Get some shots of just the kids and some shots of you with each one.

Now that you have all the pictures, go home and sort through them to find the best one of each child and the best group shot.

Now, if you have the ability to print your own pictures (without your wife seeing them) print out the best shots. If you don’t have the capability or your wife is always around, put the files on a CD and take them to Walmart, Sams Club, Costco, or any of the places that will print digital prints in an hour.

Next, buy some frames and put the pictures in them. You can get one of those large frames that hold multiple pictures for a family montage, or individual frames for each picture. Be creative. You may want to make a scrapbook page or make your own frames. I know, mom usually does this kind of stuff, but don’t worry, your children can help you figure it out. :)

And there you have it, a Mother’s Day gift mom will truly love.

What do you do with the rest of the pictures? Put all the pictures you shot on a CD and give that to her as well. I bet they find their way on her computer wallpaper.

You only have a week left to get this done. The tricky part is doing it without mom finding out!

And now some advice for moms. This week, if the family seems to be more secretive than normal, resist the urge to pry and try to figure out what’s going on. Cut the family, especially dad, some slack this week. They may just be trying to surprise you. You wouldn’t want to make it too difficult for them, would you?
